LUNAFEST showcases short films by, for, and about women. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers.
The nine exceptional short films, range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
The evening will include a special performance by teen GUTS! participants and a Labor of Love silent auction. Eighty-five percent will go to YWCA Missoula’s GUTS! (Girls Using Their Strengths) girls leadership program, funding scholarships for their Summer Wilderness Adventures for girls ages 9-18.
Fifteen percent of the proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund, LUNAFEST’s national partner. On these trips, girls learn self-confidence, leadership skills, and cooperation in a safe and healthy environment.
Girls who benefit from the scholarships typically have little access to outdoor activities, educational programs, and often cannot afford the $400 fee.
